Question:

Why is my device connecting to 4G and GSM simultaneously?

Answer:

  • Simply put, your device is connecting to two different sides of the network.

    • GSM is the circuit-switched side, which most often handles voice calls and SMS.

    • 4G is the packet-switched side, which is necessary for high-bandwidth data transfer.

  • GSM and 4G registration events do not mean simultaneous connections. It is a sequential process that ensures that basic connectivity is provided (through GSM).
