Question

When a SIM suddenly drops offline, what can we do besides restarting the device?

Answer

Have a connectivity recovery mode enabled.

This can be done through:

  • Implementing a recovery trigger

  • Running a full network scan

  • Having a back-off strategy

Please see Implementing Connectivity Recovery Mode for more information.

Workaround

Deactivate and reactivate the SIM in the Onomondo app.

  • Perform this action quickly.

  • Do not take longer than a few (max. 1-2) seconds between deactivation and re-activation.

Deactivate the SIM at your own risk. If the SIM stays deactivated while the device modem continues connection attempts, the modem may write local networks onto the FPLMN list on the SIM, preventing future connections.
