Question

  • What happens if a device attaches and detaches again and again?

  • Network logs display loops of "attached data connection" and "detached data connection". What does it mean?

Answer

  • Loops of "attached data connection" and "detached data connection" indicate normal and expected behavior.

  • These events happen whenever the device opens or closes a data session (activates / deactivates PDP context).

  • As long as the sessions contain a payload - these loops or nothing to worry about.

The frequency and length of the sessions can depend on device configuration and network settings, e.g. session timeouts.
