Why do connection drops with the message “Detached data connection from network” occur so frequently?
What happens if a device attaches and detaches again and again?
Network logs display loops of "attached data connection" and "detached data connection". What does it mean?
It looks like my SIM constantly connects and disconnects.
Answer
Loops of "attached data connection" and "detached data connection" indicate normal and expected behavior.
These events happen whenever the device opens or closes a data session (activates / deactivates PDP context).
The frequency of these events depends on:
your cellular module's firmware logic,
your device's movement across different cells on the network,
session timeouts,
etc.
As long as the sessions contain a payload - these loops are nothing to worry about.
The frequency and length of the sessions can depend on device configuration and network settings, e.g. session timeouts.
