I have inserted the SIM into my device, but it fails to establish a data connection.

Make sure that APN, data roaming, and network registration settings are correct.

Environment

  • Onomondo app: Network Logs

  • Device: applicable to all

Issue

  • The SIM is inserted, and Network Logs are present, but there is no data attach for 2G / 3G / 4G / NB-IoT networks during the time period of the issue.

  • The device registers to the network but fails to establish a data connection.

  • I see "allowed to use data" in Network Logs, but no data sessions.

  • The Network Logs display "Allowed to use data", but not "Attached data connection".

Solution

  1. Ensure that the APN is correctly set to "onomondo" (all lowercase).

  2. Set data roaming setting to: enabled (if applicable).

  3. Ensure that the device is using the correct network registration response:

    1. Use +CEREG for LTE (desired response: 5).

    2. Use +CGREG for 2G/3G (desired response: 5).
