My device cannot enter PSM / eDRX mode

Check availability and determine whether the network is rejecting access to the feature.

Environment

  • Device: radio modules with PSM / eDRX support

  • Cellular technology:

    • LTE-M

    • NB-IoT

Issue

  • My device cannot enter PSM / eDRX mode.

  • It looks like the operator prevents PSM access for roaming devices. Either by sending an active time of -1 or by sending recurrent RRC Connected requests before the Active-time of is fullfilled.

Solution

  1. Try increasing requested TAU and Active Time.

  2. Re-test.

  3. If the issue persists - reach out to Onomondo Support and provide device logs.
