Environment

  • Onomondo app: Network Logs

Issue

  • My SIM is connecting to a network that is not allowed on the network list.

  • The SIM is not rejecting networks that are not included in the updated network list.

Solution

Deactivate and reactivate the SIM to enforce a new network registration.

Warning: Reactivate the SIM as quickly as possible (max. 1 second). If you fail to do so, your device might continue registration attempts and write local networks onto the FPLMN (Forbidden PLMN) list on the SIM. Perform the action at your own risk.

Workaround

Wait. The device should reject the network during the next connection sequence.

Cause

Once you have updated the network list assigned to the SIM, the device may stay connected to the previous network and not recognize the change immediately. This can happen if the device has not fully re-authenticated yet, so it keeps using the previous network settings without checking the new ones.

Deactivating the SIM prompts the Onomondo Core to notify the local operator to close the connection, which should trigger the modem to start a new connection sequence.
