Environment
Onomondo app: Network Logs
SIM type: applicable to all
Issue
I see
sms_disablederror in Network LogsI’m getting an
sms_disablederror when trying to send SMS to a SIM.
Solution
Enable SMS on the SIM in the Onomondo app.
Go to the individual SIM page.
Click "Edit SIM".
Enable SMS under "Device information".
Click "Save changes".
Once enabled, SMS functionality and GSM connectivity will be restored for that SIM.
Cause
Disabling SMS on a SIM leads to failed GSM registrations because, in the Onomondo backend, GSM access is linked to SMS functionality.
Even if the device does not actively use SMS, SMS must be enabled for the SIM to connect over GSM. If SMS is disabled, the SIM cannot register on the circuit-switched side of the network (GSM), which results in the device being unable to attach to GSM networks and remaining offline .
This means that disabling SMS blocks both outgoing and incoming SMS, as well as GSM network registrations. To restore GSM connectivity, SMS must be enabled in the Onomondo app for the affected SIM.
