Setting APN on a U-Blox modem

Environment

  1. Identified with U-Blox Lena R8

  2. Most likely other U-Blox modules which use AT+CFGDFTPDN

Issue

Some networks block a U-Blox module from registering to the network because it uses AT+CFGDFTPDN to identify the default APN, which by default is not "onomondo".

Resolution

  1. Clear the current APN contexts set in AT+CGDCONT list. For example AT+CGDCONT=1 will clear context id 1.

  2. Set the APN using CFGDFTPDN AT command - AT+CFGDFTPDN=1,0,"onomondo"
    ​Note: Use IP over IPv4v6 for PDN context setting
