Question

  • Is VPN traffic routed via Connectors?

  • Is the connector ignored when connecting with OpenVPN?

Answer

No. OpenVPN traffic is not routed through a Connector.

Cause

Connector Services (other than IPSec) route traffic initiated by device to the endpoint defined by the Connector configuration, unless it meets a passthrough rule.

As OpenVPN traffic is not initiated by the device, but triggered by a user accessing the OpenVPN service, communication to and from device through the OpenVPN connection is an independent service.

OpenVPN does not work for IPSec Connectors / Connections. All traffic must be managed via the IPSec Connection on the customer's side.
