Question

  • Can I get the MAC address of the device from the Platform?

  • Where can I see the MAC address of the device the sim is in?

Answer

No. The MAC address does not reach the Onomondo network.

Cause

Information we provide is based on information provided in the signalling between the local operator (VLR, SGSN) and Onomondo Core (HLR/HSS, PGW/GGSN).

The MAC address is only provided in the RAN signalling between UE (modem) and local operator (eNodeB / NodeB / BTS).

Further in the Telecommunication standards the MAC address is stripped and other identifiers are used such as IMSI or IP address. Some other less well known identifiers also include GUTI, MSISDN and TEID.

However, a lot of signalling still includes IMEI_SV value which is translated to the IMEI value seen on the Platform/API.
