Question

  • If a deactivated SIM is placed in a device, will it be able to read the IMEI?

Answer

Yes, a deactivated SIM card placed in a device will still allow the device (and any apps or systems on it) to read the IMEI number on it.

  • The IMEI is a unique identifier for the device itself, not the SIM card.

  • The IMEI is stored in the hardware of the device and can be accessed regardless of whether a SIM card is present, active, or deactivated.

IMEI is displayed in the Onomondo app only after the device comes online.
