I get an error when trying to remotely access my Teltonika device via HTTP/HTTPS

Environment

  • Device: Teltonika routers

  • Application layer protocol: HTTP/HTTPS

  • OpenVPN

Issue

  • How do I use OpenVPN and SIM IP to remotely access a device via HTTP/HTTPS?

  • I have the VPN installed but when i connect and search the IP i receive a rejected request message: "Forbidden. Rejected request from RFC1918 IP to public server address."

  • My browser returns an error when trying to access the SIM IP.

Solution

Update access control settings on the router.

  1. Log in to the router's web interface.

  2. Go to System -> Administration -> Access Control.

  3. Turn off 'Ignore public IPs on public interface'.

  4. Scroll down and click on 'Save & Apply'

Cause

The issue is related to the fact that Teltonika may treat Onomondo's private SIM IPs within the range 100.x.x.x as public IPs and prevents remote access.
