FPLMN List 

Our SIMs are by default non-steered, enabling your devices to find and connect to the network with the greatest coverage instead of following a preset list which you have no influence over. 

We believe that you should have absolute control over your devices to help meet your business needs, whether it’s maximum coverage or cost efficiency. FPLMN lists are useful in this case, as they instruct a device on which networks it shouldn't connect to. 

Understanding the FPLMN list

Your cellular module will automatically register a network to the FPLMN list when it is unable to connect to that network, which makes it unaccessible even when you haven’t explicitly excluded it.  

If you exclude a network using our Network lists but wish to access it again later, you must clear the FPLMN list to re-enable access to the network.

Similarly, your cellular device will initiate a hard rejection of a network, if you deactivate the SIM prior to turning off the corresponding device. The network(s) that your device is actively trying to connect to will be registered on the FPLMN list as a result of the hard rejection, thereby preventing the device to go online again using that given network unless the FPLMN list can be cleared. 

What can I do?  

To remove unintended networks from your FPLMN list, AT commands are your answer. It is worth noting that you must be familiar with using AT commands on your device, so be sure to consult your manufacturer or supplier for some advice. 

There are two ways to recover a device that has been lost due to the unintentional blocking of a network. You can either remove that network by using manual selection mode to remove the problematic network from the FPLMN list or by clearing the FPLMN list entirely.

Insight Tools

Our unique network infrastructure has made it possible for us to create insight tools such as Network Logs and Traffic Monitor, both of which enable you to troubleshoot and debug your devices remotely. To access these tools, you need to navigate to the individual SIM’s tab. 

Network Logs

Network Logs show you which networks your devices authenticate with and attach to, including which technology was used, so if one of your devices fails to authenticate with a network, Network Logs would be good to l show the reason for that.

This article can help guide you on how to best use Network Logs, so you are prepared to debug and troubleshoot like a champ. 

 

Traffic Monitor 

Traffic Monitor provides real time insight into the traffic packets going between your fleet and the network. Capture and analyze what’s happening between your device and the network instantly, regardless of where your devices are located in the world. With access to Onomondo’s platform, it’s like having access to Wireshark without the need to install any other software.

Recovery Mode

To future-proof your fleet, we recommend that you implement connectivity recovery mode to avoid losing your already deployed devices. In the event that you do struggle connecting with a device, having implemented the connectivity recovery mode will help you reconnect with your lost devices.
